Wooden Weapons

rokshaku bo, kun, kon, bo -- Six foot staff
hasshakup bo -- Eight foot staff
kyushaku bo -- 9 foot staff

Jo, tsue, sutiku -- stick, usually around 3-4 feet long
goshaku bo -- Five foot stick
take no bo -- Bamboo stick or cane

kai, ieku, ueku -- oar

nunuchaku, nunchiku, nunuchakukun -- simple flailing weapon, with two sticks joined by a rope or chain
sanbon nunchaku, sansetsu kun -- triple section flail

tonfa, tunfa, tuifa, toifa, tunkua -- wooden rod with a handle at one end (attached perpendicular to rod)

Metal Weapons

sai -- three pronged truncheon
manji sai -- three pronged truncheon with one prong turned up and the other down
nunti, nuntei, nunti-bo -- staff with manji sai attached to one end


suruchin -- chain(or rope) with weights at both ends

gekiguan -- stick with weighted chain attacked to one end
tekko -- iron (or wood, or brass) knuckles

Metal Weapons (Bladed)

katana -- curved, single edged sword
ryoba katana -- sword, double edged, straight
tanto -- knife

naginata, bisento -- glaive or halberd type weapon

koko, yari -- spear
tuja -- three pronged fishing spear

tinbe -- short spear, or long machete.. used with a shield

kama, nicho kama, gama -- sickle type weapon
kurisigama -- chain with sickles attached to either end
rokushaku kama -- staff with sickle mounted on one end
nata -- pole with hatched type blade attached to one end

kuwa, kue -- hoe, mattock (of the agricultural variety)

kasa -- umbrella
